CLUB CAPTAIN’S REPORT
I am a big believer that if you’re good enough, you are old enough and I think that resembles
some team selections in 2025. Youngsters such as Navindu Vanderbona, Jools Hughes, Oscar
Meech, Freddie Tucker and Ed Wilson all stepped up to make their 1st team debuts across the
season and certainly left an impression on the more senior players within the group. I strongly
believe we have the best core of youngsters in the County and I am excited to see them not
only playing 2nd team cricket this summer but winning games by scoring big runs and taking
vital wickets. This will ultimately result in pressure on the 1st team squad and (hopefully) some
positive selection dilemmas for myself throughout the season.
At North Devon Cricket Club we are very lucky to have some incredibly talented boys and girls
coming through the system. With the newly formed 4th team, I am really excited to seeing
these youngsters step into adult cricket for the first time and become the core of the club for
many a years. Simon, Jan and all of other volunteers should be very proud on the juniors they
have developed.
